Regarding the LA County Fires

Dear OCEA member,

The multiple fires across Los Angeles County over the past three days have destroyed thousands of homes and other structures and brought ash and smoke-filled skies to parts of Orange County.

When there are fires, OCEA members including dispatchers, community service personnel, shelter workers, public works crews, and emergency personnel jump into action. On behalf of the OCEA Board of Directors and the entire OCEA family I want to express our support for all those impacted and our thanks to every OCEA member who has worked during these trying events, including the women and men of the Orange County Fire Authority, which sent six engine strike teams, a hand crew, and a helicopter to battle these blazes.

Updated information concerning evacuations, emergency notifications, road closures and more can be found at https://lafd.org/alerts.

If you have been impacted, we are here to help. Contact your Labor Relations Representative at (714) 835-3355 if you have any issues with your employer because of the fires. We will assist you in any way we can.

More strong winds are predicted for Thursday evening into Friday so please stay safe.

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
