Seminar - Reacting v. Responding with Kaiser Permanente's Kevin Pham
Dear OCEA member,
It's time for another OCEA "Members Only" seminar with Kaiser Permanente's Kevin Pham. This week, Kevin focuses on "Reacting v. Responding." This is the 6th installment of an eight-week course entitled "Mindful Minute with Kevin Pham." OCEA is providing the series to our members in partnership with Kaiser Permanente.

This Week's Tips from Kevin Pham
"When someone annoys or agitates us, we tend to have an emotional response. We feel slighted, annoyed, frustrated, and angry," says Kevin. "We go home and dwell on these emotions which can be exhausting." Instead of reacting, try responding using the following tips from Kevin:
- Try taking a deep breath first, meditate, or go for a walk. When we leave the situation, we come back with a clearer head;
- Remember, there are two sides to every story. Are you misinterpreting the situation?
- Recognize that all the emotions that come from being angry and hurt are only hurting you.
OCEA's “Members Only” seminars were previously held at OCEA Headquarters or at various work locations. With the increase in COVID-19 vaccination rates, we look forward to holding these seminars in person soon. Until then, we remain committed to standing together with each of you in our union. We are OCEA strong!
In Solidarity,
