Special Election Two Weeks Away!

Dear OCEA member,
An election critical to workplace dignity and fairness in Orange County is underway. Voting-by-mail began on February 8, 2021, and in-person vote centers will begin operating on February 27, 2021. The last day to vote in-person March 9, 2021. It's a special election for Board of Supervisors District 2. The district includes the cities of Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton, portions of Buena Park, Fountain Valley, and the unincorporated area of Rossmoor.
There are several people running for the seat but the two main contenders are people we know well - former District 2 Supervisor John Moorlach (2007-2015) and Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley. As supervisor, Moorlach consistently attacked workers' jobs, pensions, even the right to bargain in good faith with your employers. Katrina Foley has just as consistently defended the rights of public workers in Costa Mesa and Orange County. She has stood with OCEA members and fought alongside us to defeat bogus layoffs and anti-worker initiatives.
Voters in District 2 are seeing evidence of spirited campaigning in their mailboxes and on social media. I want to thank the OCEA Stewards and Board members pictured above and listed below for stepping up to make phone calls or delivering campaign literature to voter homes. They have contributed greatly to the effort to elect OCEA's endorsed candidate Katrina Foley to the Board of Supervisors. Thank you for all you are doing:
Sashi Sharma, Espie Martinez, Michael Garcia, Cheri Azodi, Jennifer Morgan, Julio Robles, John Sincock, Michael Mestas, Patty Hernandez, Liza Cooper Butler, Adele Tagaloa, Judy Bowling, Bill Daher, Anjali Essoe, and Frank Hernandez.
You can vote just as soon as you receive your ballot! Just drop it in the mail, no postage required. Click here for information on Vote Center and Ballot Drop Box locations.
Make sure you mark your ballot by Katrina Foley's name. When you do, you are raising your voice for good government, community service, and workplace fairness for you and your fellow OCEA members. Join your OCEA Stewards in electing a County Supervisor we can all be proud of.
In Solidarity,
Lezlee Neebe
OCEA President
