Superior Court 3% Wage Increase and Small Dues Increase

Dear OCEA member,

This week, you’ll see the 3% negotiated wage increase reflected on your paycheck. This is the second wage increase of this MOU, the previous wage increase was 6%. For the average full-time Superior Court worker that means a base pay increase of $2,289.60 annually.

You’ll also see a 3% increase to OCEA dues starting Dec. 8, 2023 - .42 cents per paycheck, or $10.92 annually. Like every other labor organization, OCEA must responsibly deal with the ever-increasing cost of providing representation. OCEA members will still pay one of the lowest dues amounts of any union member in California. Additionally, you may see changes in your benefit deductions related to your negotiated wage increase.

In 2021, the OCEA Board of Directors wanted to take positive action to ensure that going forward members would not face large, unexpected dues increases. They therefore implemented a general policy effective calendar year 2022 to raise dues only when general wage increases occur, and to limit the dues increase to the same percentage that wages increase.

Your union and its leaders know that you and your families face rapidly escalating costs of living. You can be certain OCEA remains committed to limit its costs and, in turn, limit yours.

Happy Thanksgiving week!

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
