Tentative Agreement reached between Cadets, City of Anaheim

Dear APD Cadet,

After several meetings, we are pleased to announce your AMEA Executive Board has reached agreement for a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City. The agreement will be presented for adoption at the August 25, 2020 City Council meeting. The terms are as follows:

• Extend the current MOU for one (1) year, expiration date of June 24, 2021;
• Employees hired into the Police Cadet classification unit prior to July 1, 2020, but failing to maintain qualification under Article 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 due to their completion of a degree and graduation, may remain employed in the Police Cadet classification through June 30, 2021 at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police. (This provision shall sunset on June 30, 2021).

Although our goal during bargaining has been to negotiate enhanced benefits and salaries, unprecedented times and the budget impacts of COVID-19 shifted priorities toward protecting current benefit levels that stood to be affected by the situation. We will keep you updated on any further developments.
