TTC Update: Feb. 11, 2025

OCEA TTC Members,

I am sending you this update regarding our ongoing efforts to address and remedy challenging working conditions in the TTC Office.

As you know, our campaign for better conditions began in 2021. At that time many of you participated in a TTC workplace survey and your valuable responses helped initiate conversations with County executives about workplace culture and the treatment of employees. Since then, we have continued working behind the scenes to address these concerns and advocate for meaningful change.

Many of you are also aware that the Board of Supervisors recently acted to strip Shari Freidenrich of her delegated investment authority, resulting in a host of unanswered questions.

We have learned that a reporter submitted to the County a Public Records Act request (PRA) and last night we learned that in response to that request the County provided the reporter with a copy of responses to that 2021 survey. We have already been in contact with the reporter and have confirmed that no employee names were disclosed. We continue to closely monitor the situation and will keep you informed of any updates.

To be clear, this information was provided to the reporter by the County pursuant to a valid Public Records Act (PRA) request, OCEA only learned of the County's action last night, and no employee names were disclosed.

We want to provide a full update on our efforts over the past few months and discuss next steps. Among other things we want your input as to whether, and to what extent, we should further engage with the press regarding this matter.

We plan to meetat Noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18 via Zoom (Zoom details were sent to members home email address on file).

Please mark your calendars—we strongly encourage your participation in this important discussion. If the reporter publishes an article prior to our meeting, we'll let you know and do everything feasible to protect you.

In the meantime, please contact me directly if you have any questions or immediate concerns.

Thank you,

Michelle Rubio
OCEA Labor Relations Representative
