2.5% Wage Increase + Retroactive Pay Secured Through Parity Language
Dear Seal Beach Chapter member,
As you may know, during our last Seal Beach contract negotiations your OCEA negotiations team successfully included parity language in our contract. Another bargaining group in the City recently reached an agreement and their wage increase was higher than ours, so your OCEA Labor Relations Representatives immediately reached out and requested to invoke the parity language.
We succeeded and our victory will result in:
- A retroactive 2.5% wage increase beginning the first pay period on or following July, 1, 2023; and
- A 2.5% wage increase the first pay period on or following July 1, 2024.
While the parity language speaks to wage increases, which the City has agreed to provide, it does not explicitly speak to one-time monies, as were negotiated by the other group. To that end, the City will request that the Seal Beach City Council also provide a one-time payment of $2,000 for all active members. If approved on May 13, the City will process the checks as soon as possible.
We want to take a moment to thank your negotiations team once again for achieving your last contract, including this parity language. Please stay tuned for further updates regarding this matter.
In Solidarity,
OCEA
