YLEA Bargaining Update - Sept. 1, 2021
Dear YLEA Member,
Your YLEA bargaining team met with the City's representative yesterday to respond to then City's initial bargaining proposal. The City’s proposal was insulting, to say the least—a three-year contract with a 2% non-pensionable lump sum payment in the first year, a 1% COLA in the second year, and a 1% COLA in the third year. This unacceptable proposal sends a clear message—City leadership grossly undervalues you and the work you have done and continue to do, particularly through this unprecedented pandemic.
We are very far apart at this time. We expect to receive the City’s second proposal next week, which will hopefully reflect a far different view of the value you each bring to the community that relies on you day in and day out.
In Solidarity,
Rob Cavanaugh, YLEA President
Kate Spector, Vice President
Monse Garcia, Secretary
Kate Wolf, OCEA Labor Relations Representative
Jessica Salazar, OCEA Labor Relations Specialist
