Yorba Linda Negotiations Update
OCEA member,
Thank you for staying engaged and active in the negotiations process. We received over 50 signatures on our petition asking the City Council to support meaningful wage increases for Yorba Linda workers. Members continue to express their interest in signing the petition, so you can still sign if you haven’t already.
Your negotiations team attended the April 16 City Council meeting and Lead Negotiator Kerensa Schupmann introduced herself and your stewards. We emphasized that the members negotiating this contract are the employees that help make Yorba Linda the beautiful city it is. We respectfully requested that Council members recognize that the work that you all do is what keeps Yorba Linda a model city. You can view the council meeting here (scroll to 1:26:50 to hear Kerensa speak).
To keep everyone updated, we will host two membership meetings on Thursday, May 2 in the Library Community Room. The first meeting will be 11:30 a.m.–Noon and the second will be 12:15–12:45 p.m.. We hope that the staggered meeting schedule will enable all OCEA members to attend one of the meetings. See flyer below for additional details.
Your negotiations team last met with the City on Wednesday, April 17, to receive the City's financial presentation. It was extremely brief and scant on details. Our next meetings with the City are today, Wednesday, April 24, and Wednesday, May 1. We plan to present the City with our counter proposal at today’s meeting and hope to receive their counter proposal at the May 1 meeting.
At the May 2 membership meetings we will provide a brief update, answer questions, and discuss next steps (including possible actions we may need to take as a group). If you plan to attend, please RSVP to agreene@ocea.org so that we can provide enough lunch for all.
In solidarity,
Your OCEA Negotiations Team
