Yorba Linda Negotiations Update: June 28, 2024

Dear OCEA member,

Thank you to everyone who joined us Thursday for a visit from the OCEA Hot Dog Wagon. It was great to see so many of you out there for lunch.

Prior to the Hot Dogger your OCEA negotiations team met again with the City for negotiations. There was no movement on wages based on our proposals. The City remains at one of two options:

Option 1: 6% / 3% / 2% (a total of 11.36% over 3 years)

OR

Option 2: 4% / 4% / 4% (a total of 12.49% over 3 years)

Despite their lack of movement, the City did not explicitly state this is their Last, Best & Final Offer. We have asked the City to either meet us on wages at our requested proposal or make this declarative statement, so we can proceed accordingly. For now, we will continue to squeeze as much movement out of the City as possible. We are, however, nearing the end of this part of the process.

The July 2 City Council meeting was cancelled due to the holiday. The next council meeting is July 16, however the City has indicated there could be a July 9 City Council Special Session to discuss negotiations. If so, we anticipate an update shortly after. We will keep you informed as we have more information to share. Rest assured, there will be an opportunity for everyone to ask questions and vote before anything is finalized.

In Solidarity,

OCEA
