Yorba Linda Negotiations Update: Tentative Agreement Reached
Dear OCEA member,
After several months of contentious negotiations, your OCEA negotiations team reached a tentative agreement for a successor contract with the City on Wednesday, July 10.
The tentative agreement, if ratified by members, will be submitted to the City Council for adoption (likely on Aug. 6, 2024). It includes a 3-year term with the following general wage increases:
- Effective (retroactively) July 1, 2024: 6% base wage increase
- Effective July 1, 2025: 3% base wage increase
- Effective July 1, 2026: 3% base wage increase
Your negotiations team fought aggressively throughout the process. We acknowledge these wage increases are not reflective of the amount you had hoped for initially. However, we are united in our strong belief that this is the very best contract we can achieve in the current environment. This contract is also the richest in our recent history and is competitive with the current market.
You can review the specifics of the tentative agreement below.
Your OCEA negotiations team will hold membership meetings from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18. At those meetings we will discuss the provisions of the tentative agreement and you will be able to ask questions about the tentative agreement.
Members will have the opportunity to vote to ratify or reject the tentative agreement beginning after the July 18 meetings and will conclude at Noon, July 23, 2024. Voting will be available both in person and online.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact one of your OCEA negotiations team members, or your OCEA staff members—Lead Negotiator Kerensa Schupmann (kschupmann@ocea.org) and Senior Organizer Alisha Greene (agreene@ocea.org).
In Solidarity,
Your OCEA Negotiations Team
