Your Retirement Security: ADELE REELECTED TO OCERS BOARD UNOPPOSED!

A union is strong when we leverage our greatest strength, our strength in numbers. This is also true when we are talking about the retirement security of County public workers. Your pension is administered and governed by a nine-person Board of Trustees. Two of these OCERS Trustees are directly elected by you and your co-workers. Currently, you are served by two tireless advocates for retirement security, Trustees Adele Lopez Tagaloa and Iriss Barriga. Adele and Iriss, along with the other Trustees, work to ensure all County public workers can retire with dignity.

Periodically we provide an update on the latest news about your retirement security!

ADELE LOPEZ TAGALOA REELECTED TO OCERS BOARD UNOPPOSED!

Great news for OCERS members! Adele Lopez Tagaloa will serve a third term on the OCERS Board of Trustees without an election. The nomination period closed on April 16, and Adele was the only candidate who qualified for the General Member seat.

This uncontested victory speaks volumes about Adele's outstanding leadership and the trust OCERS members place in her ability to protect our retirement security. During her tenure, including her service as Board Chair in 2024 and current role as Chair of the Audit Committee, Adele has been a fierce advocate for the over 55,000 members who depend on the $24.5 billion pension system—which is one of this nation’s largest and most revered public pension system.

Adele and OCEA extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in this campaign, especially the over 500 OCEA/OCERS members who signed nomination papers at hot doggers across the county. Your support made this possible!

Adele's new term will begin in January 2026 and continue through December 2028. She will continue to bring her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to ensuring that after a lifetime of public service, OCERS retireess can all retire with dignity and security.

This is YOUR retirement seat, and Adele is YOUR voice on the board! CONGRATULATIONS ADELE!
