OCEA Court Bargaining Survey
April 9, 2019
One of the best ways your Court Bargaining Team can prepare for negotiations on a successor agreement is by hearing directly from you about your priorities in the workplace and those of your co-workers. The bargaining survey is an effective and efficient way for you to communicate those priorities, and the results will inform and guide your Bargaining Team moving forward.
Court executives obstruct funding advocacy in Sacramento
March 25, 2019
As you are all aware, OCEA has been incredibly active this year advocating for additional Superior Court funding in Sacramento. Since January OCEA members and staff have been to the Capitol four times, our Sacramento political consultants have been in constant contact with legislators, and we have even secured a letter signed by every Orange County Assembly member in support of $110,000,000 in additional Court funding.
Court Funding Update - March
March 18, 2019
Recently we updated the membership regarding Court Funding. The state budget covers every aspect of California Government including the Judicial Branch. In his budget Gov. Newson included additional funding to the Court system. This is positive. However, the budget again does not go far enough to truly alleviate the decade of budget austerity faced by the Judicial Branch. Recall that the budget is first presented by the Governor in January each year.

OCERS pension update - January 2019
January 18, 2019
Making sure that your pension is there for you when you leave public service is my top priory. My colleagues on the OCERS Board—Russell Baldwin and Frank Eley—feel the same way. Russell also serves with me on the OCEA Board of Directors and Frank Eley is a former OCEA president now retired from County service. Last October, you demonstrated your faith and trust when you resoundingly reelected me to the OCERS Board. I want to thank you for your confidence.
